The Field Hockey Coach's Legacy Scholarship in Honor of Betty Wesner was created to celebrate something deeper than wins and records—it honors the heart of a field hockey program. Each year, it recognizes a Kutztown University field hockey student-athlete who embodies exceptional leadership, character, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to team.
This scholarship stands as a tribute to Coach Betty Wesner, whose influence reaches far beyond the field. For 33 remarkable seasons, she built not only a successful program, but a family—one grounded in trust, accountability, and pride. Her record of 344–257–15, five PSAC Coach of the Year honors, and a National Coach of the Year title in 1997 speak to her coaching excellence, but they only tell part of the story. Her true legacy lives in the countless athletes she shaped—young women who left Kutztown stronger, more confident, and prepared for life beyond the field.
Coach Wesner believed in the power of grit, the importance of integrity, and team-first thinking. She inspired her players to push past limits, to lift each other up, and to carry themselves with purpose both on and off the field. This award exists to ensure those values continue to thrive in the Kutztown University Field Hockey program.
The scholarship was established by alumna Elizabeth DiLullo Brown (’97) in loving memory of her father, Louis J. DiLullo (’71), who passed away in early 2026. Like Coach Wesner, Lou dedicated his life to education, coaching, and mentorship. He touched the lives of hundreds of student athletes with his compassion, encouragement, and belief in their potential. His spirit—kind, generous, and deeply committed to others—lives on through this award as well.
Liz’s experience as a Kutztown field hockey student-athlete played a pivotal role in shaping who she is today. The lessons she gained—teamwork, accountability, leadership, commitment, and the positive impact of sports participation—continue to influence her both personally and professionally.
As Executive Vice President at Little League International, she is dedicated to providing opportunities for young athletes, just as her own coaches and mentors once did for her.
This award reflects the enduring bond of the Kutztown field hockey community and offers alumni a meaningful way to give back while carrying forward the legacy of the program. It is more than recognition—it is a promise. A promise to honor the past, to support the present, and to inspire the future.
Alumni can donate specifically to this award, supporting generations of future field hockey student-athletes.
The scholarship will be presented at the conclusion of each field hockey season to one deserving student-athlete who represents the spirit of Kutztown field hockey.
