The Diversity Council (or DC) is a standing committee of SGB that serves as a forum to address the concerns that diverse communities face both within the campus community and beyond to the Student Government Board and administration. DC also serves as an umbrella for other Diversity related student organizations to collaborate and share programming ideas and conduct leadership development. We address various social issues including, but not limited to gender, sexuality, identity, ability, faith and spirituality, internal representation, economics, veteran, and more. Our goal is to foster an environment that allows for clubs to engage in intersectional communication and use that knowledge in planning events.
Our fundraising goal is a minimum of $400, because part of our mission is to teach students leadership skills to better their organizations. This would cover the cost of local speakers, connecting to international engagement and affinity groups, and making an impact on campus. Because all students, even if not representing an organization, are welcome to attend, these resources would benefit everyone on campus, not just our organization. We hope to see support from affinity groups, concerned alumni, community allies, local businesses, and anyone who wants to make a difference at Kutztown University!
