Gifts to Geology Club contribute to...
Our organization is trying to fund our end of year trip that we take to different regions to explore the different geological environments and features. In recent years, we have traveled to Virginia, New Hampshire/Maine, Arizona, and West Virginia. Our goal is to allow students to explore different geologic regions at a lower cost while still doing fun, enriching activities with their peers. We usually take 8-10 students on each trip, and they find more about the different environments while getting to know each other better. This creates a better understanding of the world around them as well as a better sense of community among our members.
We would like to have funding for our trip to have the opportunity to travel outside of the United States. This would allow our members to visit new destinations around the world and new environments that they might never get the opportunity to explore. Some places we would consider visiting would include Mt. Hekla and the Mid-Atlantic Ridge which are visible in Iceland, the Andes Mountain range in Chile, and the Alps in Switzerland. These locations offer unique geological settings that cannot be found in the United States and would allow our members to experience exploring the geology of them up close instead of viewing it from a textbook or images.
